Stay soft.

Stay soft.

The world is pressing down on you, and I know it feels like you might crumble under its weight. But you’re stronger than gravity.

If gravity is three times heavier than his body weight, and despite that, you can still lift your son — why, you’re stronger than the universe.

It takes a lot of courage to stay soft. And you’re doing it. In the midst of everything the universe is throwing at you today you still have a heart so soft, cashmere doesn’t know what hit ‘em.

I know today is a lot to handle. You’ve had things coming at you from every direction. And a lot of it feels like it’s out of your control. But on the contrary, you get to say no. Or you can choose to say yes. But you always have the freedom and the right to draw your own boundaries and stick to them.

Staying soft isn’t easy. You have to fight against yourself time and time again to not let things harden your heart. Staying soft is accepting the heart break, it’s feeling the pain, and then coming back with compassion instead of resentment. Loving people harder and letting go of the anger.

I know you’re burnt out. It comes with the territory. You knew this coming in. But you continue to be a beacon of hope for everyone else around you. You’re calm when you’re surrounded by chaos. You choose to stay soft when the people around you are hardening by the second.

You emit the warmth of the sun while you envelope us in the peace of the night. You’re so much stronger than you think you are, and you can get through this — as hard as it is, you’ll stay soft.

I just know it.
